ImagiLearning: Creating The Future of Learning

Someone has to create it...why not us?

Inside View of ImagiLearning - A Learners Perspective

I came to Second Life for the first time several years ago. I walked around in a circle or two, left and came back months later, walked around a little more, and then just left. Second Life was boring and a bit scary but looked like it had tons of potential. However, knowing the potential of something and making that potential a reality for yourself are two different things.

A year or maybe two...who's counting, really?...I saw an announcement on LinkedIn from a guy named John Jamison about a course called the SLemester for an EXTREMELY low rate that fit my non-profit budget. It seemed like it was my moment to really learn about the potential of SL. So, this past January, 2009, with two of my colleagues, I began my journey with John/VB and ImagiLearning. It has been one of the best things I have done for my learning and career.

The two most important things that you, as a learner, receive from your SLemester experience are land to call home for several months and the hands-on classes. There is a bit of theory, too, but in a fun and conversational forum. Some rather thought provoking conversations can ensue during the first couple of weeks of the SLemester. Beginning SL'ers will find ImagiLearning to be an invaluable support because John/VB is extremely helpful and has a number of his previous students come back to help and mentor newbies.

I am just completing the Master class and will be sticking around with VB and ImagiLearning...I'll be renting a plot of land on the newest island in the ImagiLearning group. If you are around, feel free to stop by.
